Discover the art of wax carving with acclaimed jewellery designer Clio Saskia. In this workshop, you’ll create a stunning wax-carved ring featuring either a bezel or claw stone setting. You will learn to incorporate various decorative techniques, such as granulation and intricate carving, to make your design truly unique.
You will receive 3 different shaped CZ stones to practice with, including round, oval and baguette, allowing you to create a truly unique ring.
This workshop includes a FREE wax heat pen for you to take home, allowing you to continue developing your wax-working skills.
What will I make?
You will make a unique ring with a single claw or bezel stone setting, ready for casting in the metal of your choice.
What will happen on the day?
The class will begin with Clio introducing the project and showcasing examples of rings made from wax using these techniques. You’ll discuss design ideas and how to approach your chosen stone (we’ll provide a selection of stones to choose from).
Following this, you will get to work carving and shaping your ring from a tube of wax, with guidance from the tutor. You will learn how to create a sturdy setting for your stone, choosing between either the claw or bezel style.
Once you have created the main shape of your ring and setting, you will have the opportunity to explore various decorative techniques including carving and wax granulation.
Finally, you’ll learn how to finish and polish your wax model, preparing it for casting. Your tutor will provide advice on the casting process, offering recommendations for reliable casting services, pricing information, and helpful tips to guide you through the next steps.
